In a crisis, the family support so vital to young people often collapses. A network that might have provided protection, help and information disintegrates, leaving young men and women more vulnerable than ever before. At the same time, youth traumatized by violence are particularly vulnerable to engaging in risky behavior as well as to sexual exploitation.
